Current Research: 

Current research focus is modeling tumor pHe response to pHe modifying agents via acidoCEST MRI. My projects center on detecting changes in pHe by inhibiting production and extracellular excretion of lactate by inhibiting the Lactate Dehydrogenase A (LDHA) enzyme and the Monocarboxylate transporter – 1 (MCT1) transporter protein by small molecules. The objective is to create a model of combination therapy between LDHA/MCT1 inhibiting agents and pHe-sensitive chemotherapies, such as doxorubicin. The ultimate clinical application of this research is to develop a companion theragnostic dynamic between MRI, tumor pHe, and chemotherapy administration for improved tumor management.
